After 6 years of design and building works, on September 30th 2010 the "Canton Tower" in Guangzhou has opened its doors to the public and it will be ready to accept first inhabitants in spring 2011. A 600- meter Guangzhou Tower is now the tallest TV tower in the world which beat Toronto's CN Tower (553-meter). The record for the tallest tower in the world will last only one year, till spring 2012, when Tokyo Sky Tree with a height of 634m is ready. The Guangzhou Tower is one of the most imposing towers in the world. This 130 storey building is designed for offices and the top floors will occupy Four Seasons luxury hotel group, allowing the visitors enjoy the city's view. As architects Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit mentioned, they wanted to design a free- form, non symmetrical tower, as if it's "in a movement". As a result the architects created "Sexy Female" that acquired "Super Model" nickname.

According to the specialists, this earthquake resistant tower is going to be used for more than 100 years and up to 6000 people are expected to visit it daily. The bearing structure of the tower is its steel latticed outer shell, supported by the system of "rings" from the inside. The upper viewing platform is located at an altitude of 450 m.The ticket price varies between $7, $ 14 and $22, depending on the different heights. Guangzhou Tower will be equipped with four high speed elevators with the speed of 10 meters per second. The top level fire safety system is being installed in the tower; it will have two large water tanks located on the 84th floor with the capacity of 1,200 tons.
