In 2005 Armenian Government made a decision to build a little Old Yerevan corner in the center of capital, but the project is still only on paper. According to the plan, in capital's heart, not far from the Republic Square, should be reconstructed a little historical and cultural center of old Yerevan. The total site for the historical development is about 2.0 hectares, which is delineated in rectangular area (300m x68m) by Arami, Abovyan, Buzand and Koghbatsi streets. Over the past years, many historical buildings in Yerevan were dismantled with future purpose to restore them in "Old Yerevan" project. The chief designer of the project architect Levon Vardanyan (LV Architect) during his interview to news agency Regnum said that the construction work will start at an early date. The project will include historical and cultural buildings built in XIX and early XX centuries and dismantled recently. The 20 relocated historical buildings will accommodate cafes and restaurants, shops, showrooms, specialized art galleries and museums, as well as small hotel becoming an active part of modern urban life. According to news-portal Panorama, the head of department of Monuments Protection of the Ministry of Culture RA Karo Ayvazyan, said, that the numbered stones from dismantled historical buildings are in storages of 5 private companies. As he said, 15 percent of the stones are in very poor condition, and 10 percent can be used after some restoration work.

As reported Ukrainian Komsomolskaya Pravda, the Armenian community in Ukraine plans to build an Armenian church. The church design is already done. According to newspaper, the construction will start this spring, most probably in March and will end in 2015. The total area of 40 meters tall church will be 1 thousand square meters. At first, the Armenian Community planned to build the church in historical Podol area, but later, due to problems with the land allocation, building site moved to the Kharkov district of Kiev. Besides, the cathedral site will include an Armenian school and a cultural center. 16 cross-stones will be moved here from Armenia. We also note, that the construction funded only by local Armenian community.

As reported by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the total volume of construction output in 2011 compared with the previous year has dropped by 11.5 percent and amounted 480 billion AMD ($1.25 billion). The primary reason for the drop is the reduction of construction works financed by international organizations, companies and private sector. At the same time volume of construction output financed by the State, the Local Governments (Communities), and the Armenian Apostolic Church has increased. The companies' construction spending account for nearly 45 percent of all construction output, but there was 13.5 percent drop compared to 2010. The second largest investor in the construction industry is the State Government with 15.2 percent increase. But the largest growth is recorded in Local Governments construction spending multiplied 5.9 times compared to 2010. All international donors have considerably reduced their construction financing in 2011, except German Development Bank (KfW) with sector investment increase 2.2 times. The Armenian Apostolic Church construction investment has increased by 13.8 percent, but the private sector construction activities have considerably dropped by nearly 30.5 percent.

According to news.am, in Armenia in the third quarter of this year were registered 3427 real estate transactions, 2.9 percent lower compared to the same period of last year. It should be noted, that 2403 or 68 percent of transactions were registered in the capital. In September the average price for 1 square meter in Yerevan was 256.5 thousand AMD or US$ 670 - 5.1 percent lower compared to the same period of last year. In Center district an average price for 1 square meter is 1.7 times higher than the average urban rate. The price for 1 square meter in down town is 436.2 thousand AMD or US$ 1172. The second "high price" district is Arabkir, where average price for 1 square meter is 337.9 thousand AMD or US$ 908. More affordable housing is available in such districts, as Avan, where the average apartment prices are 2 percent lower compared to the average urban rate. In Nor Nork and Ajapnyak districts average apartment prices are 13 percent lower than average capital rate. The lowest apartment prices are registered in Nubarashen district.

As reported by PanARMENIAN.net, medieval bridge in Garni will be reconstructed by funding of "U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP)". The beginning of construction works is planned in 2012. According to Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelian, it's hard to say exactly how long it will take to repair the bridge, presumably from 1-1.5 years. In order to restore the medieval bridge AFCP committed US$ 110 thousand. Medieval bridge in Garni was built in 11th century on the river Azat. In 2010, by means of the budget of the RA some reconstruction work was carried out and was also set restoration projekt for the future. Since its approval by the U.S. Congress in fall 2000, the "U.S. Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation" has funded more than 640 cultural projects in over 100 countries, representing a contribution of nearly US$ 26 million towards the preservation of cultural heritage worldwide.
