The Second Construction Exhibition For This Year

The 4th regional specialized "Construction and Interior 2011" exhibition organized by the "Prom Expo" will be conducted from April 29 to May 1 in sports & concert complex after K. Demirchyan. According to organizers, exhibition is of interest not only among local, but also among international construction companies. Businessmen from Iran, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Russia have also been invited to participate in the exhibition. Commercial director of the "Prom Expo" Vahagn Mirijanyan told Armenpress: "Overall 160 businessmen will participate in the event. There are representatives of some international companies that are interested in Armenian market or have already started their activities in republic. But the main purpose of exhibition is promoting and presenting the potential of local producers". Also mention that recently passed another construction exhibition "CAUCASUS BUILDING & RECONSTRUCTION EXPO 2011" showed significantly reduced interest in such kind of presentations, however, let's hope that all interested parties will show more interest in this exhibition. Expo Has Opened "Construction and Interior 2011" exhibition has opened today. There were about 100 companies taking part in expo, which number was slightly more than in previous CAUCASUS BUILDING & RECONSTRUCTION EXPO 2011. However the number of participant companies is reducing from year to year, meaning that firms are searching alternative ways of promoting their new products & services.

Google Gets The World

This New Year began with the news that artificial islands -The World are slowly sinking into the sea. The World consists of 300 islands, with 232 kilometers of coastline and a total area of 55 square kilometers. Things have not gone well for The World from the very moment of its creation; unlike another exclusive development project Palm Jumeirah, The World couldn't attract investments. Today the development of the events surprised everyone! Last week Google announced that it is going to buy those man-made troubled islands and rearrange it into the Google logo. According to Google report, after completion of the project the big "G" in Google, that will be formed from five islands, is going to be used as company's headquarter in Dubai and a staff private resort. The rest of Google- shaped islands will be sold through the auction the highest bidder. Among the reported implicit bidders on the remaining islands are Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio, who had already reserved part of The World. Google is well known for its green and sustainable lifestyle and The Google Islands will be not an exception; they will be equipped with wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and even tidal power in order to maintain self-sufficient and premium life on the islands. Google will also hire top engineers to define the damage that the islands have sustained and reinforce them.

Legend - Oscar Niemeyer

The official opening of Niemeyer Center (Centro Niemeyer) was held this week in Aviles, (Asturias, Spain). That ambitious cultural project was carried out by legendary and brilliant Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer (he was born in December 15, 1907). The first stone was laid 4 years ago, in April 2007. This unusual structure with spiral staircase consists of a three-storey dome-shaped museum, an auditorium for 1000 spectators, almost 4.000 square meter open-plan exhibition site and a viewing tower over the estuary and the city panoramic view. This cultural complex will also contain a multi-use building with rehearsal areas, conference and meeting halls, cinema house and an open square to hold entertainment and cultural activities. The Niemeyer Center is the only creature by Oscar Niemeyer in Spain. The first sketches, drawn with a thick black marker, later where transformed into an ambitious cultural master plan and in his own words, it's the one he most loves of all he has done outside of Brazil: "I am making such a unique work for my first time, and it represents one of the highest points of my ongoing effort to transform architecture into a piece of art". According to the author, the center opens the doors to culture in of all its directions and forms, traditions and styles; music, theater, cinema, indoor and outdoor exhibitions, conferences and educational programs. Oscar Niemeyer is one of the founders of the of modern Brazilian architecture school, a pioneer in exploring the formal possibilities of reinforced concrete solely for their aesthetic impact. Niemeyer architecture is distinguished by plasticity, expressiveness and warmth. As he said: "It is not the right angle that attracts me, nor the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man. What attracts me is the free and sensual curve - the curve that I find in the mountains of my country, sinuous course of its rivers, in the body of the beloved woman."

Skype Moves to Silicon Valley

In this spring Skype located its North American headquarter in Silicon Valley - Palo Alto (California, USA). Skype occupy more than 5000 square meters of office and technical facilities space that is designed to support 250 employees. Skype headquarter design was made by American Blitz architecture and interior design studio. To understand Skype's culture, Blitz professionals undertook extensive user-group surveying and researched workspace typology and environmental influences on the thinking process in order to fully reflect the concept and policy of the company. Creative Interior made by architects reflects a "free spirit" of Skype, and a thoroughly planning, used techniques, creative decor and furnishings accessories, such as "skype-its" mobile white boards help feel that spirit. In order to more clearly emphasize that "free spirit", Blitz professionals made the design of technical facilities in loft style, and for the effective relaxation, close to the work and meeting spaces there are numerous "rest islands" where you can eat, drink coffee and play board games. Skype was founded in 2003 by the Swedish entrepreneur Niklas Zennstrom and Dane Janus Friis. The Skype software was developed by Estonian developers Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu and Jaan Tallinn.

Love in Batumi

The Love Sculpture of Batumi symbolizes love story of Ali and Nino. The most remarkable feature of these sculptures is that metal man and a woman always in motion, and they meet each other almost every 10 minutes. The author of this creation is a famous Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze (architect by education), started to make dolls in Tbilisi to earn a living in the 1990s. Then she moved to the United States, where her work attracted the interest of some art dealers and galleries. "Man and Woman" started its way many years ago. At first a small-scale version of the composition was sold in Italy, then it was displayed at an exhibition in London and today, a 7 meter sculpture stands on the seashore boulevard of Batumi. The most difficult for Batumi's Love sculpture was to create a new version in a huge-scale. It takes about 10 months for German "Art Engineer" company to realize the project into life. The resistance of these 7 ton statues was count on a wind, climate and moisture resistance. The lovers start their motion at 7 P.M every day and are run by the computer with selective color lighting, and the sea is perfectly complete this moving composition.
