World's Tallest Temple To Be Build In India

President Pranab Mukherjee will lay the foundation of the 213-meter Sri Krishna temple in Vrindavan on November 16, which backers say will be the world's tallest. Construction work has already begun on the piling for the pillars of the Chandrodaya Mandir, using the latest technology. The chief project director Bharat Prabhu, who keeps shuttling between Vrindavan and Bangalore, said "The US $49 million project...will take five years. We are using the world's latest technology and engineering processes to ensure a minimum life of 500 years for the gigantic structure that will go a long way to promote and nourish Sri Krishna consciousness, especially among the youth. The project is conceptualized and is being executed by ISKCON from Bangalore, which is partnering with Akshaya Patra, the world's largest non-governmental organization (NGO), which runs midday meal programs in the country feeding over a million school children every day. Prabhu said "this is a culturally and socially driven project which aims to put Vrindavan and India on the world map of iconic heritage structures. The project also employs many technologically innovative solutions to ensure environmental sustainability." This grand temple will harmoniously combine elements of both Indian temple architecture and modern architecture. A look-alike of the verdant forests of Vrindavan, consisting of twelve forests, will be recreated around the temple. Water from the Yamuna will be lifted and pumped to the meandering rivulet that will allow for boating and support aquatic life particular to the Braj area.

Tom Cruise Sales Mansion For US$ 59 Million

After almost 20 years, Tom Cruise is looking to offload his beloved home away from home in the picturesque mountains of Telluride, Colorado. The 1.2 million square meters property has been listed by Telluride Sotheby's International Realty for a cool US$ 59 million. The almost 930 square meters estate was of course the setting for the Vanity Fair shoot in which he and then-wife Katie Holmes introduced their baby girl Suri to the world back in 2006, while they spent their precious first few months as a new family holed up there together during that summer. And while the actor maintained ownership of the sprawling property following his divorce from his third wife, his estate agent Bill Fandel tells The Wall Street Journal he has decided to sell the home as he hasn't had the time or opportunity to go there as much as he would like in recent years. The main house, which was constructed in an authentic wooden lodge style, features four bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as cosy log fires to keep the place warn during those cooler winter months. It comes complete with a spacious library and an additional recreation room perfect for entertaining children and the young at heart. While the outdoors is all too inviting, with a private trail system leading to some of the most spectacular mountain views in the state, perfect for a brisk walk or run, there's also a gym for those cold or rainy days. The gated compound also features a sports court which can be used for basketball, tennis and even transformed into an ice hockey rink. Perfect for visiting family and friends, there's also a sizeable 148 square meters guesthouse on the property complete with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. According to the 52-year-old's realtor, the Mission: Impossible star completed construction on the native stone and cedar home in 1994. In the two decades since, plenty of gorgeous green foliage has sprung up around it, with towering ponderosa pine and Douglas fir trees provide the ultimate natural seclusion. While several properties acquired during his five-and-a-half-year marriage to Katie were divided up during their divorce, Cruise's Telluride mansion - which is an easy 12-minute drive from downtown and the Telluride Ski Resort - was not among them.

Russia And China Want to Build World's Longest High-Speed Railway

China and Russia are considering building a high-speed rail line thousands of kilometers from Moscow to Beijing that would cut the journey time from six days on the celebrated Trans-Siberian to two. The 803-kilometre line would be the first stage of the route to Beijing. The project would cost more than US$ 230 billion and be over 7,000 kilometers long, more than three times the world's current longest high-speed line, from the Chinese capital to the southern city of Guangzhou. At present, trains between the two run along the Trans-Siberian railway that links Moscow and Vladivostok, before switching to a branch line heading south through the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator. Direct passenger trains between Beijing and Moscow went into operation in 1954 and there are still two services per week.

World's First Vertical Forest Is Finally Complete In Milan

After 5 year construction, Stefano Boeri Architects' brilliant "Bosco Verticale" towers are finally complete. World's first vertical forest comprises a fantastical pair of luxury high-rises that add nearly 10.2 thousand square meters of lush vegetation to the skyline of Milan, a city notorious for its air pollution. However, "Bosco Verticale", which translates in English as "vertical forest," will be more than just a beautiful sight to behold--like a pair of green lungs, its forested facade of 21 thousand plants will absorb CO2 and particulates, dampen noise pollution, lessen the urban heat island effect, and create oxygen and favorable microclimates. The "Bosco Verticale" mixed-use towers were constructed with US$ 2.5 billion public-private investment as part of the redevelopment of Milan's Porta Nuova district. The towers, measuring 80 meters and 110 meters, house 800 trees between 3 and 9 meters tall, over 4 thousand shrubs, and 15 thousand ground cover plants including vines and perennials. Created with LEED Gold certification in mind, "Bosco Verticale" is also equipped with a gray water recycling and irrigation system as well as photovoltaic solar cells. The buildings welcomed its first residents last month, but those families weren't the only ones to call the vertical forest home; a thriving bird population has already begun to nest in "Bosco Verticale's "rich foliage, of which over a hundred different species of trees and shrubs are represented. "The real key to this project is biodiversity," says Boeri. In addition its 22 thousand residences, the high-density mixed-use towers also comprise 6400 square meters of office space and 650 commercial spaces. Nearly two out of ten property buyers are foreigners. The superstructure was also recently shortlisted for the prestigious International High-rise Building Award 2014 (The City of Frankfurt has bestowed The International Highrise Award every two years since 2004. The honor is awarded to a structure that combines exemplary sustainability, external shape and internal spatial quality, not to mention social aspects, to create a model design. The prize, a 50 thousand euro is awarded to the planners and developers jointly) as one of the five most beautiful and innovative high-rises in the world that were recently completed. Boeri is currently in China, where he plans to replicate the "Bosco Verticale" project.
