In this spring Skype located its North American headquarter in Silicon Valley - Palo Alto (California, USA). Skype occupy more than 5000 square meters of office and technical facilities space that is designed to support 250 employees. Skype headquarter design was made by American Blitz architecture and interior design studio. To understand Skype's culture, Blitz professionals undertook extensive user-group surveying and researched workspace typology and environmental influences on the thinking process in order to fully reflect the concept and policy of the company. Creative Interior made by architects reflects a "free spirit" of Skype, and a thoroughly planning, used techniques, creative decor and furnishings accessories, such as "skype-its" mobile white boards help feel that spirit. In order to more clearly emphasize that "free spirit", Blitz professionals made the design of technical facilities in loft style, and for the effective relaxation, close to the work and meeting spaces there are numerous "rest islands" where you can eat, drink coffee and play board games. Skype was founded in 2003 by the Swedish entrepreneur Niklas Zennstrom and Dane Janus Friis. The Skype software was developed by Estonian developers Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu and Jaan Tallinn.
According to the amendments to the RA Law "On State Due" passed by the Parliament of Armenia at the end of 2010, the annual rate for the right to carry out construction works was raised four times (from 100 000 AMD to 400 000 AMD), and has already led to the dismay of many construction companies. Recent media reports about expressed dissatisfaction of construction companies in Gyumri, is only the visible part of the iceberg of discontent. We agree with Gyumri contractors opinion, that changes in this Law are made absolutely not at the right time. World economic crisis, which in Armenia first of all hit the construction industry , catastrophically reducing the share of construction in the country's GDP, has put many contractors throughout the country to the brink of bankruptcy. In this situation, the Government should find the right way to help these companies survive, but not to strangle them eventually... The most disastrous consequences of this change is much more possible for small and medium-sized construction companies, which are now in a deplorable state. After all, the legal concept of "licensed construction work" is used not only for the construction of big projects, but includes any construction work that requires building permit, including small-scale construction, such as openings in existing walls, replacing the old wooden floors, construction of a small house or building, which are the small company's main activities. When getting license for listed construction activities these small companies automatically become 20% VAT payers(under VAT law) and appears outside of equal competition with many shadow and remodeling bodies (see article). The desire of any government to provide budget revenues are quite normal, but the methods of goal achievement should not be incongruous with today's situation in economy (and construction industry) and the mood of business society, and must not completely kill the entrepreneurial spirit, which already tremendously decays in recent years. Famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy bought a luxury apartment in New York, at a famous Plaza Hotel with a panoramic view over Central Park. The apartment has about 557 square meters and cost more than $40 million. As Wall Street Journal reported, this is the second most expensive townhouse or apartment sold in New York since the start of financial crisis. But this estate is not the first real estate purchase of Krutoy in New York. In 2003 he purchased half of the 28th floor at the Chatham condominium (a 34-story condominium tower) for $6.1 million. Three years later he paid $7.4 million for the larger apartment next door. In April 2009 Krutoy put both apartments on the market together for just under $20 million and in June he sold the larger one for only $7 million. Note that a luxury apartment in New York is not the only "shelters" of Krutoys' family; they also have apartments in Moscow, houses in Miami and Yurmala.
The Love Sculpture of Batumi symbolizes love story of Ali and Nino. The most remarkable feature of these sculptures is that metal man and a woman always in motion, and they meet each other almost every 10 minutes. The author of this creation is a famous Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze (architect by education), started to make dolls in Tbilisi to earn a living in the 1990s. Then she moved to the United States, where her work attracted the interest of some art dealers and galleries. "Man and Woman" started its way many years ago. At first a small-scale version of the composition was sold in Italy, then it was displayed at an exhibition in London and today, a 7 meter sculpture stands on the seashore boulevard of Batumi. The most difficult for Batumi's Love sculpture was to create a new version in a huge-scale. It takes about 10 months for German "Art Engineer" company to realize the project into life. The resistance of these 7 ton statues was count on a wind, climate and moisture resistance. The lovers start their motion at 7 P.M every day and are run by the computer with selective color lighting, and the sea is perfectly complete this moving composition.
