The construction of the sixth Disney theme park has started today, on April 8 in Shanghai. As previously reported, the Walt Disney Company has clinched deal with China's Shanghai Shendi Group Co. Ltd. to build Disney amusement park in Shanghai last year. Shanghai's Disneyland will include 2 hotels, a lake, restaurant and commercial complex. According to the head of Disney's parks and resorts division Tom Staggs, it will take five years to complete this project. Shanghai's mayor has estimated the amusement park will cost $3.7 billion, which would make it one of the largest foreign investments in China.

The Disney Land will be located in Shanghai's new part, in Pudong It was expected to cover a relatively small 4 square kilometers, at a cost of 25 billion yuan (3.6 billion U.S. dollars) and construction works are expected to be completed by 2015. Note, that in September 12, 2005 China has already one Disneyland, which is located in Hong Kong. The very first Disneyland Park in the world was opened on July 17, 1955 in Anaheim, California. Then, Walt Disney Magic Kingdom located near Orlando, Florida. Later opened Tokyo's Disneyland in 1983 and Disneyland in Paris in 1992.
