Yerevan Municipality plans to start the program of reconstruction and modernization of the Victory Park, turning it into a park of the 21st century, with profuse thematic and stylistic solutions. The idea is undoubtedly very interesting, especially considering the fact, that it is based on the history, traditions and legends of Armenia. The park will be designed for all age groups, combining elements of leisure, entertainment and recreation. One of the distinguishing features of Victory Park will be the use of interactive learning components of the 21st century. As a result, all visitors of the park will have access to information systems. The project will be implemented with private investments. Yerevan Municipality will assist the investor in providing information on the legal status of land plots, in obtaining the necessary documentation for the project, will consider the possibility and conditions of preferential payment for land use. The construction works will last 3 years; the project cost will be about 60 mln US Dollars. The main task of the project is to make the park modern, while maintaining the main elements of the former Victory Park. And though the park needs reconstruction, it has nevertheless formed its own architectural image. Ultimately, in large cities the spirit of different times should be felt, the collective image of which reflects the mood of the city, especially if this place is dedicated to some significant event. Let us recall, that famous architects Rafael Israyelyan, Hovhannes Hakobyan, Ashot Alexanyan, Anahit Navasardyan and the sculptor Ara Harutyunyan contributed to the creation of Victory Park by building the unique symbols: Alley of Heroes, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Aragil Restaurant, Lake Arevik and Mother Armenia. It is noteworthy, that Victory Park already has its own ideology, therefore the park does not need ideas, it needs reconstruction, reconstitution of felled trees, overhaul of Aragil restaurant and renovation of the existing amusement rides. We are not against the project implementation, on the contrary, it has plenty of interesting ideas and solutions, and since the program is at the initial stage, it may be worthwhile to consider building a park in one of the suburbs or micro-districts of the capital. This approach will not only contribute to the uniform development of the city, but will also give an opportunity to further expand the park areas, equipping them with new amusement rides. Let us recall, that the construction works of the Victory Park began back in the 1930s, and the park was then called ''Arabkir City Park '', after it was renamed to Victory, and for many years since then the trees were planted on its desolate lands. The Memorial of Victory Park was opened on 29th of November, 1950. The total area of the park is 34 ha. Let’s hope, that the city officials will follow this example, and another desert land clot will be planted with trees.

The Yerevan Circus, built over six years, will be put into operation in a year, becoming one of the most important cultural sights of Armenian capital. “The construction of the circus is difficult, because the building shape is round, and in this sense, it has its own features. A little more time and we’ll have a luxurious and modernized circus building. Finally, the actors will work under normal conditions, as they have been working in a building that has no basic conditions for many years”, says the art director of the circus Sos Petrosyan. The round shaped old building of the circus was built in 1962 on the site of the first wooden circus building of Yerevan. More than 50 years old building which was not repaired after its opening, was demolished in 2011, when experts concluded that it was inadvisable to repair it. The architect of the project is Vahagn Vermishyan. The construction is financed by Tashir Group. The roof of the former building was only 17 meters, which made it impossible to show most acrobatic tricks. Now the roof has a height of 27 meters, which will allow to show all modern tricks. Former building occupied 3000-3500 square meters, now it is more by 1000 square meters. Instead of old four-story building, the new one has 8 floors, two of which will serve as an underground parking. By the way, it is the only circus in the world that has underground parking. Instead of the previous 1560 seats, now the circus will have 2000 to 2500 seats, as well as three changeable arenas. The new building also will be fully equipped for wheelchair users.

The construction of the zipline that connects Arabkir and Ajapnyak Administrative Districts of Yerevan (from one bank of Hrazdan river to another) is already completed, and in a few days, adventure tourism fans will be able to experience the longest zipline of the region built within the framework of the Alter Ego project in Arabkir Park. The zipline has two directions. From Arabkir to Ajapnyak with the length of 870 m, and backwards - 650 m. The height of the zipline is about 90 m, part of which passes under the bridge of Davtashen. Moreover, it is considered the only zipline in the world that passes under the bridge. "Designers and investors usually avoid such projects, because the bridges cause winds of different directions, so there is a risk that a person will not succeed its way. We constructed the line with such technical capabilities that will allow us to adjust the speed at any time. We studied the character of the winds and their directions, and we are sure that this bridge will not prevent us. The construction of the zipline lasted two months, "said Zhirayr Mushegհyan who is one of the founders of Alter Ego company. The cost of the zipline flight on weekends and holydays will be about USD 33 and about USD 29 for working days. The zipline and park will fully have adapted to handicaps and for them other tariffs will be used. The construction of the zipline cost about USD 160 000 and the next year another USD 100 000 will be invested to turn Arabkir Park to one of the most attractive and innovative places in Armenia. Besides the zipline, fans of extreme sports will have an opportunity to experience rock climbing, ice climbing as well as mountain biking. "The mountain biking trial will connect the park with the Barekamutyun Metro Station tunnel, we shall take this area under our control, set up appropriate signs and provide all security measures for bikers," says Zhirayr Mushegհyan. The park will also consist free of charge open cinema and libraries, as well as playgrounds and special places for drawing for children. The company is also going to make some improvements on lighting and landscaping, build irrigation system, ramps and other needed facilities in 3-hectare Arabkir Park.

China will soon finish construction on what will be the world's tallest and longest glass pedestrian bridge, floating 300 meters above a canyon in the Zhangjiajie National Park. Designed by Israeli architect, Haim Dotan, the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge will be 380 meters long, 6 meters wide and feature a transparent glass floor. This extreme bridge aspires to become a "Wonder of the World" and continues the Chinese trend of delivering unique architecture that tests the limits of human ingenuity. The bridge will comprise two side steel beams, a structural glass deck, handrails and side suspension cables, with the capacity to hold up to 800 people at a time. The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge will also contain a bungee jumping spot and be used as a runway for fashion shows. Construction is expected to wrap up in July, with the bridge officially opening to the public in October 2015.

The world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge opened in Sochi National Park, Russia. It's not really meant to serve your daily commute, though - the bridge is part of the Sochi Skypark. The 439-meters-long bridge was built over a 218 meters chasm and it attracts bungee jumpers and sightseers alike. The Sochi Skypark Bridge was developed in collaboration with New Zealand, and it took 5 years, 740 tons of metal and 2,000 cubic meters of concrete to construct. The bridge and the bungee platform are suspended by 8 cables - each of which is rated to hold 300 tons. Those who have the opportunity to visit Sochi can take a stroll along the huge structure overlooking roads, rivers and mountains 218 meters below. Those that feel more adventurous can get in line for a bungee jumping experience - there are several different points on the bridge from which to jump.
